Kirsi Talo Tourism Farm, Estonia

The renovated farm offers family guests a comfortable overnight stay. You can sleep in an old barn, a renovated barn, or even on the hayloft.

The rooms are decorated with photographs of ancestors as a dowry of the hostess, as well as Seto folk costumes, which you can try on if you wish.

The farm has a camping and bonfire site, barbeque facilities and a smokehouse, where you can try making smoked meat with the host.

In the Kirsi farm, food is prepared from local ingredients and the recipes originate from the hostess’s ancestors.

The menu at Kirsi Farm is inspired by the old recipes of the hostess’ grandmother, bringing forth the timeless favourites of Seto cuisine. Among them is the mouthwatering sõir (traditional homemade cheese), which was crowned the people’s favourite of Setomaa Kingdom in 2017.

Everything in Setomaa is the same as in Estonia, just completely different. This region has, throughout history, been under the jurisdiction of various Russian entities. Because of this, the Setos are Orthodox Christians and churches, chapels, and holy days are of special importance to them. The Setos have their own folk song tradition, the Seto leelo, which differs significantly from Estonian runo folk songs. Seto cuisine is almost the same as Estonian cuisine, only different, be it by preparation method, combination of ingredients, or serving style. Setomaa has always been a border area — between Western and Eastern culture and religion — and because of this, it has its own kind of people who are neither this or that, just Setos.
